Railways: Lifeline of India

August 28, 2020 by academicshq Leave a Comment

Indian railways: Trains in general are considered to be the safest and the most reliable mode of tranpsort, and trains in India have been serving the nation well for the past 150 years.

The Indian Railways turned nearly 5,000 coaches into quarantine cabins or isolation wards, given the acute shortage of hospital beds during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The wards have facilities including a toilet, a bathing room each, windows fitted with mosquito nets, oxygen cylinders and medical equipment.

Railways reduce distance and boosts development

It’s a small world after all. With technology taking leaps and connecting us with the world, India’s transport network, the ever-reliant railways, is leaving no stone unturned to make connectivity and transportation effortless.

It is not only reducing travel time between cities and states, but is also giving a boost to the real estate sector as the railways embarks on several ambitious plans to reduce the commute time to far off places by infusing new technologies in the current system, thus providing citizens with more options to work, or invest.

These new plans have opened a plethora of options for citizens who might be already commuting between these cities for jobs/business.

LIFELINE EXPRESS

The Lifeline Express or Jeevan Rekha Express is a mobile hospital train run by the Impact India Foundation. It started on 16th July 1991 and so far the service has benefitted 400,000 Indians in the rural parts of the country.
