Outline the main modes of transport in the district/city you live. What problems you and other citizens face pertaining to the availability of public transport. Analyse.

1. You are required to undertake a survey to get primary data for this project work.

2. Identify various modes of transportation for inter-city travelling like Railways, buses run by State Transport Corporation and private operators, Taxi service.

3. Identify various modes of transportation for travelling within the city such as buses run by State Transport Corporation and private operators, train/ metro service (if available), taxis, autos and cycle rickshaws.

4. Select a sample of 100 regular passengers travelling to other cities and another sample of 100 regular passengers travelling within the city to reach the place of their work.

5. Prepare a questionnaire consisting of relevant questions which you would like to ask these passengers such as the name of the passenger, his/her age, his/her office and residence address, the mode of transport used, the timing of the travel (peak time or otherwise), daily frequency of travel, the problems faced like long waiting, crowded transport, lack of facilities, the freight rate, cleanliness, behaviour of the transport operators, etc.

6. Present your findings in the form of tables, diagrams and pictures.

7. Prepare a report on the problems citizens face pertaining to the availability of public transport.

8. Analyse your findings and make constructive suggestions for solving these problems faced by the citizens.
